Neuer Wall | Designermode
To the right immediately behind the town hall, on Adolphsplatz, is Hamburg’s stock exchange, the Hamburger stock exchange. Continue along across Adolphsbrücke to Neuer Wall, Hamburg’s designer street where you can shop till you drop for international fashion.
Jungfernstieg, Alsterhaus and Hamburger Hof | Kaufhäuser
Jungfernstieg is a magnificent boulevard on the Inner Alster and has long been a popular place to walk: families have taken their Sunday walks here since the beginning of the 20th century. Today it is popular for its large department stores, like the Alsterhaus, and exquisite shops.
All around the city hall square | Souvenirs
Our next stop is around the Rathausmarkt or city hall square. Time to buy some souvenirs, pick up a quick snack - or take a closer look at Hamburg’s Rathaus which is not as old as it might appear at first. This impressive building was not actually completed until the end of the 19th century.
Gerhofstraße, Gänsemarkt and Gänsemarkt Passage | Einkaufsmeilen
You should not miss a quick stop at Gänsemarkt. This market square with an indoor mall is the center of three miles of shopping on streets that extend out like a star. The Lessing Monument is the Gänsemarkt’s landmark.
Schanzenviertel | New Economy
This quarter can look back on a rich and eventful history: named after the Sternschanze defensive fortification built in 1682, it was earmarked to be torn down. But the quarter transformed, and was outfitted with student dormitories, and later became the center of Hamburg’s New Economy – and the Rote Flora, an occupied theater building, still sits at its very heart.
Mercado | Shopping Mall
You can find the shopping mall "Mercado" right at the Altona-Station. With 84 shops it offers a wide selection of fashion, gastronomy and much more. From here you can get very easily to Altona-downtown.
Phönix-Center | Biggest Shopping Center of Hamburg
With approximately 110 shops the Phönix-Center in Hamburg-Harburg is one of the biggest shopping malls in Hamburg.
Pöseldorf – a little romance on Alster Lake
The Pöseldorf section of Hamburg is a fun mixture of spacious white villas, narrow streets, former carriage houses, dreamy courtyards, galleries, cafes, trendy restaurants, hotels and a large number of owner-operated shops. And in just five minutes, you can walk over to Alster Lake for a bit of relaxation.
